Description
Since 1989, Pousada da Marquesa stands out in Paraty for offering a unique and welcoming atmosphere to its guests. As the inn was installed in an old mansion that used to be only family, it still retains the characteristics of a time that already seems lost.
The guest who wants to enjoy the sun will have the ideal environment by the pool – next to it there is also a bar and a harvester living room open to the garden.
There is an imposing German grand piano in the main living room, crystal chandeliers, colonial furniture, decorative objects and even an important collection of paintings and sculptures, which includes authors such as Pelegatta, Shaffer and Cuenca Munhoz. Despite having all the modern comforts, the impression that the inn gives is that of staying in a refined family mansion.
The portraits of the old owners, painted in oil, together with the decoration of the rooms, balconies and lounges, with furniture and pieces, almost all of them multisecular, reinforce this impression.
This whole group was formed over many years by several generations of property owners, who formed the collection in antique shops around the world, especially in Ubatuba, São Luiz do Paraitinga and Paraty itself.
The care went far beyond simple collection – practically all the pieces received special care from restorers in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Many of them are displayed in specially designed niches, some of them even in the bedrooms.
Another special attraction of the inn is the balcony that frames part of the pool and the garden. There are twelve wooden columns brought from Santa Cruz de la Sierra, in Bolivia, that support the colonial roof. On the balcony, the guest can enjoy the tranquility of the garden, in a comfortable rocking chair.
The Pousada offers the services of breakfast, swimming pool, pool bar, living room, TV room, room service, garden, Wifi, and parking.
