Welcome to Pousada Araras Pantanal Eco Lodge. The PANTANAL is the largest wetland on the planet, UNESCO declares the site a World Heritage and Biosphere Reserve, the true wildlife sanctuary of South America. Located in the center of the continent, with an area of approximately 150,000 km², the Pantanal presents itself as a transition area, containing elements from the Cerrado, the Amazon and Atlantic forests, the Caatinga and the Paraguayan Chaco. This fantastic biodiversity includes approximately: 698 species of birds, 80 of mammals, 260 of fish and 50 of reptiles. In the midst of this unique and rare biological diversity is the Pousada Araras Pantanal Eco Lodge (16º30’42.3” South latitude; 56º42’39.4” West longitude). Built in perfect harmony with its surroundings, access is guaranteed year-round via the Parque Transpantaneira road, just 132 km (82 miles) south of Cuiabá (Capital of Mato Grosso) in approximately two hours. From this self-sustaining inn, you will have the opportunity to do excellent bird watching, walk along trails in primary forest and over walkways suspended over wet areas, go canoeing, explore fields and forests on horseback, take day and night photo safaris in appropriate vehicles and much more, all with permanent assistance from specialized naturalist guides fluent in several languages.
